Chesa Mariöl 1
Chesa Mariöl 1 continues directly from the historic core of Zuoz. The building is oriented along an east-west axis, maximizing solar orientation and urban integration. It enjoys spectacular view of Piz d’Esan to the north-east. The residential typology features a continuous space traversing the entire building, forming a large apartment. Inspired by traditional Engadine houses, the layout includes a large open living area (“sulèr”) while bedrooms are organized in two intimate wooden cores. Façades mirror the plan, with large panoramic windows for living areas and smaller windows for bedrooms. The sculptural form, deep openings, and white volumes emphasize solidity and character, with white concrete used for façades and internal living walls to meet aesthetic and functional demands.
