Casa Sciaredo
The Casa Sciaredo in Lugano Barbengo, the first Modernist residential house under protection in Ticino, was built in 1932 by the artist Georgette Tentori-Klein as her own home-studio. The artist lived there until her death in 1963. Subsequently, the house fell into disrepair until the Sciaredo Foundation, founded in 1996, took over its management and maintenance. In 1997, it was rescued from decay and respectfully restored by architects Lukas Meyer and Ira Piattini. In 2016, further renovation became necessary, particularly for the building envelope, due to water-related issues affecting minimal details. New junctions and sheet metal details were developed, terraces waterproofed, facade plaster renewed, terrace flooring replaced, and original colours restored, particularly for fixtures and interiors. The work was carried out by architect J. Könz in collaboration with the Office of Cultural Heritage.
