Mortuary

The new mortuary develops between two parallel walls inserted between the park and the psychiatric hospital parking lot, forming a transitional strip. The progressive intimacy of spaces guides visitors from the park to the atrium and mortuary chamber. An inclined ceiling channels natural light into the central reflective space. Wooden service structures define interiors without reaching the slab, maintaining visual continuity. Concrete walls are clad with untreated wood boards, creating a horizontal rhythm contrasting with vertical trees. The “béton brut à peau d'éléphant” provides plasticity and mass, producing an intimate and sacred atmosphere, with key points illuminated to enhance reflection. With L. Molo
